Arsch "buttock"), cognate with Gk. orros "tail, rump, base of the spine," Hittite arrash, Arm. or "buttock," O.Ir. err "tail." ars*-hole first attested c.1400 as arce-hoole. Arsy-versy "backside foremost" first attested 1539.
