Terry Pratchett smacks down JK Rowling.
Marcus: "He expressed surprise at Rowling's comments that she only realised Harry Potter was fantasy after the first book was published."
Marcus: "'I'm not the world's greatest expert, but I would have thought that the wizards, witches, trolls, unicorns, hidden worlds, jumping chocolate frogs, owl mail, magic food, ghosts, broomsticks and spells would have given her a clue?'"
Marcus: High five to the Pratchett-meister! Woooo!
Marcus: Go Pratchett!
Marcus: JK Rowling's Time interview and Terry Pratchett's letter to the Times.
Laura: Apparently the article is complete twaddle. Pratchett's quotes were taken from the 2001 Carnegie Medal Speech. My pal Andy addresses the possibility of Pratchett going ape at the Beeb in her Live Journal.
Marcus: Er, no it isn't, and no they weren't. Whilst it could be argued that Pratchett is reprimanding lazy journalists more than JK Rowling, the BBC article contains quotes from the letter he sent to the Times. The letter is in response to a feature in the Sunday Times (sadly now archived away and irretrievable unless you pay them lots of money), so strictly speaking it should be seen as a response to that rather than the Time interview. But to be fair the BBC just reference the Time interview and don't actually imply that the quotes are in response to that.
